Brick Oven Care

Image
Our Fiesta Combo Unit Family (unfinished) Having a brick oven is a lot of fun, but it is also an investment. Like anything you spend your hard-earned money on, you want it to last! Round Grove Products makes fantastic, durable brick ovens, but there is some maintenance that will help it stay in great condition so that you can use it for decades. 1. Keep it Clean As you use your oven, ashes will accumulate. A quick sweep after each time you use it will be good for a while, but when there are a lot of ashes in the hard to reach spaces, it's time to get out the shop-vac. Vacuum out the tough spots and don't worry about eating ashy food! 2. We have the Cure Maybe you didn't know this, but you should "cure" your oven before using it! Why? Well, there is always a bit of moisture that is trapped during the construction process. If left alone, when you go to use it, the moisture becomes steam and that steam can expand and crack and damage the masonry. Before you use it t...

Brick Oven Utensils

Image
Although you may already have too many kitchen utensils cluttering your drawers, when you decide to buy a brick oven and create an outdoor kitchen there a few more items you should consider adding to your collection. Pizza Stone: A pizza stone helps you cook pizza the way it was intended to be cooked by providing a hot surface that will cook the crust first rather than every component of the pizza at the same time. Although pizza out of the brick oven will be better than a normal oven, no matter how you cook it, the pizza stone can help you bring it to the next level!  Infrared Thermometer: This is an important thing to obtain when you get a brick oven so you can accurately measure the interior temperature of the oven itself. Obviously, it will not have the traditional digital temperature that is found on normal home stoves, however, this device will help you ensure that your meals are still cooking at the correct temperatures.  Ash Bucket: One important thing you need to do ...

However, we can give you tips for making the decision about what type of brick oven you should get.  The first most obvious decision that comes when you are looking into brick ovens is deciding whether you want just simply a brick oven or a brick oven-fireplace combo . Where Your Outdoor Kitchen is Located Matters!

Image
Small outdoor kitchen with oven and grill Michael wanted to have an outdoor kitchen in his backyard. His wife, Jean, agreed and they set to planning. They got excited over finding the perfect outdoor oven , the right style for seating, they even looked meticulously for flora that would accentuate the stone they picked out. The day came when everything was finished and it was time for the inaugural use of the kitchen. Michael lit the grill and Jean started a fire in their oven so the kids could make wood-fired pizzas. Before long, Michael was coughing and his eyes were streaming with tears from the smoke. The kids were complaining that it was too hot to hang around because the sun was beating down on them. Jean was getting frustrated because the kids kept changing their minds about pizza toppings and she was walking to and from the house constantly, which was quite a hike. By the time the night was over, they were all exhausted, and they weren't sure that the outdoor kitchen wa...
